San Francisco - Part I

by

This past weekend, our little family escaped to my favorite city for a fun getaway! We had the best time and I wish we could go back every weekend.  I lived in San Francisco until I was nine-years old and have such fond memories of living there. The weather was perfect: foggy in the morning, sunny and 75 degrees in the afternoon, then foggy and cool again at night. I love the fog. Like really, really love it. And we were so happy to escape the heat in Davis (it was over 95 degrees both days). It was a great weekend. San Francisco makes my heart happy (sappy, but true)!

Day one was super fun! It was nice to just relax and spend time with my boys.

Beautiful view of the city!

We were pretty excited to be on vacation...

Chillin' out and watching some Mickey Mouse Clubhouse before venturing out for the rest of the afternoon.

We had some of the greatest pizza of our lives for dinner. We picked up a couple of pizzas from Tony's Pizza Napoletana in North Beach and enjoyed them while watching the sunset at Ocean Beach. The pizza above was by far my favorite, the "Spacca Napoli" (basil, mozzarella, sea salt, olive oil, cherry tomatoes). It was pizza perfection.

Becks was a fan of the pizza (obviously)! It was also his first trip to the beach, and he loved it...mostly. He's not too sure about sand, but LOVED watching all the doggies run around. He thinks doggies are the funniest and laughs hysterically when he sees one, when they bark, etc.

The first time we put his feet in the sand...

He put on a brave face, but wasn't exactly thrilled.

My loves.

Watching the fog roll in (happy sigh). So perfect.

And admiring the view later that night. So in love with this city.

After pizza for dinner on the beach, we went in search of dessert (and went on a long drive, because the perfect child was sleepy). A quick search on my phone led us to Mission Pie, and we are so glad we ended up there! The place was small, but very cute and welcoming. It was also full of people happily eating pie, so we felt pretty confident about being there. Everything looked delicious, but Mark got the peach blackberry and I settled on the mixed berry (with whipped cream, of course). They were both fantastic! Mark's was good, but in my opinion, the mixed berry was the better of the two. Perfectly sweet and tart, in a delicious flaky crust and barely sweetened organic whipped cream. I'll have eight more please. Unfortunately we forgot to take pictures, so you'll just have to believe me when I tell you how ridiculously good they were. You should go (right now!) and get yourself some pie.

That wraps up our first day in the city! Part II coming soon!
